Hatology
Description: In this session, we will be creating an interactive game, which can easily be modified by your child's imagination! It is very easy to add twists and turns to this game, and we strongly encourage your child to do so! The object of the game will be to get the hat onto the person, and it can be played with multiple people to see who can do it the fastest. We will be discussing topics related to energy, and forces and motion. Materials Needed: An empty paper towel roll(can use two toilet paper rolls instead), 1-2 sheets of paper, a pencil to draw with, scissors, glue stick/tape, some thread/yarn/a ribbon, a mini disposable cup that will fit on top of the cardboard paper rolls. Optional: Coloring materials, decorative materials. Recommended Ages: 4-10 years old, but anyone is welcome! |
Arctic Animals Activity
Description: In this session, we will be creating an interactive model of an iceberg with arctic animals on top of it, to learn about hibernation, adaptations, and the weather and climate of Antarctica. Materials Needed: Sheet of cardstock or construction paper, printer paper, pencil, scissors, and glue or tape. Optional: Coloring materials Recommended Ages: 4 to 10 years old, however, all ages are welcome!

Groundhog Day Activity
Description: In this session, we will be creating a stimulating craft, modeling the essence of Groundhog Day, exploring the concepts of shadows and their relation to the prediction of seasonal changes - in this case the arrival of Spring! We will also be learning about why seasons occur, and how we can generally predict the arrival of seasons. The recommended age group for this project is 4 to 10 years old, although all ages are welcome! Materials Needed: Paper plate, Toilet paper roll or some type of roll of cardboard (must be around the size of a toilet paper roll), Sheet of paper OR you can print out our template below!, Straw, Tape and/or glue, Scissors, Pencil. Optional: Coloring materials (we find that paint is the best way to color your plate if you so choose!) Recommended Ages: 4-10 years old, but anyone is welcome! |

Event: Skeletal and Muscular System Hand Activity
Description: In this lesson, we will be learning about the inner workings of the skeletal and muscular systems by creating a paper model of a hand. They will be bendable and their movements will demonstrate the bones in the fingers and their connections to the muscles of the arms through tendons. Materials needed: Construction paper, 4-5 straws (optional: 2 different colors), pencils, string/thread, scissors, a ruler, and tape. Recommended Ages: 7-10 years old, however anyone is welcome! ***Click on the video file below to watch the finsihed hand model in action, it is able to contract just like a real hand!

Respiratory System Activity
Description: In this session, we will be discussing the respiratory system while creating a 3-D model of the body system. We will be discussing topics within this broad one, in specific to how breathing, or respiration, occurs. This includes the important role that the diaphragm muscle plays in respiration, the specific structures that the respiratory system consists of, and more! Our recommended age group for this project is 4 to 10 years old, although all ages are welcome! Materials Needed: Plastic Water Bottle, 3 balloons, One straw, Tape, Scissors or an Exacto knife(with recommended parental supervision). Optional: Paper, Coloring Materials.
